The Future of Economic Development: What Should the DfE Look Like?

Event Summary The Future of Economic Development: What Should the DfE Look Like?
Purpose
The Economic Policy Review Committee has published its report on the Department for Enterprise and its Executive Agencies. Its findings are significant, and they reflect much of what Chamber has been hearing from members for years.
The report confirms that the current agency model is fragmented, lacks clear outcome measurement, and is not delivering economic development at the pace or scale the Island needs. Five recommendations have been made, including an independent review of the Department's scope and purpose, a unified place marketing strategy, and reform of the Visit Agency into a statutory Tourism Board.
But the report raises as many questions as it answers. Before implementation begins, business needs to be heard.
This session gives gold members the opportunity to shape Chamber's formal position on what comes next, and to influence how the Island's economic development infrastructure is redesigned.
