Event Details

The Isle of Man Government recently commissioned an independent assessment of the risks and opportunities that the Island will face from human driven climate change. The assessment identifies a range of scenarios, based on comprehensive climate models developed by the UK Met Office, and what the outcomes of these scenarios will mean to the Island's climate.

Having understood how the climate will change on the Isle of Man the assessment considered how these changes would impact the Island understanding the risks they present, and prioritising those risks to enable effective adaptation action.

119 risks and 14 opportunities were identified across five sectors; natural environment, health and communities, infrastructure, economy and international dimensions.

Implications for Businesses

During the discussion we will highlight some of the risks which may impact on businesses across the Island, consider the effects of these risks, explore adaptation actions, and make recommendations for next steps.
